If you can imagine a Lilium nepalense that grows over 125cms tall, with stems that will never bend and flowers some 26cms across, then you can imagine 'Kushi Maya'.

She is something of a chameleon, by day Her flowers have the same sweet perfume of Her Oriental parent, but in the evening Her other side takes over, filling the air with the unmistakable scent of L.nepalense.

The plants are extremely vigorous, multiply quickly and are hardy, during trials we have subjected the bulbs down to temperatures of minus 12c, easy to grow, in a well drained  compost.

Very intersting hybrid bred from the 'Bellingham group' by Holger Kuhne, lots of ball shaped, deep red flowers, nicely spotted with black, tall strong stem up to 6 feet tall, easy to grow in an acidic soil and increases very quickly, forms large clumps in only a couple of years.

Both the picture and the bulbs have been supplied by Holger, who is chairman of the European Lily Society www.liliengesellschaft.org

Spirit of America was bred by Calvin Helsley. This clone  will be introduced and registered by Holger Kuhne.  The plants grow to 150 cm with 10-20 buds and forming very fast big clumps under normal garden conditions. Its a L.pardalinum (x michiganense?) hybrid.
